just type in the key word "VCM" to search. someone will surely track down an alternate source buy knowing exactly what the originating source is. But I know that bit of information in the right hands can be useful. I've searched the 3Com website looking to see if I can buy one there cheaper than going through Ford. for what it is worth, the VCM self ID's itself as a 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet. Since you are looking at going IDS, I should mention that the IDS does have a scope feature that you have to also buy the VMM to use. It's really just the VCM and cables you are buying. but th IDS downloads and runs, so it is accepted as "Pro" by the IDS. On some PCs, the "Pro" version will show up as "Windows Media Version". With this, IDS will run on "Xp Home", once you have switched the name to "Pro".

it doesn't make a full blown version change, it just changes the name of the windows version and fools the software you are trying to run into thinking you have the right version. This version of TweakNT will change the name of your windows version. Here, if you plan to switch any more laptops over to "pro". I wish I knew you were about to shell out that $300.00 for Pro. on PDS, you have to completely back out and navigate into the other screens.
they will be preset to start running with one click. Granted, they are not continuing to run in the background when they are not being viewed. You can just hit the tab to switch between them. Like you can run power balance on one screen, and data logger on another. One of my favorite features is being able to run multiple test pages at once and just tab between them on the drive. I think you'll like it once you get used to it.

Hi Jay.I was following a thread on IATN when it was mentioned that PATS is supported to 2003.Even though I have AE,it is not stand alone- meaning I cannot launch it and watch functions without being connected to a vehicle.I will find this info out for you and get back.As far as the difference between IDS/PDS,PDS is run off of a PPC and IDS is run off of a laptop.I currently run PDS on a iPAQHP4700 PPC.// I have the installation disc for the IDS but it requires XP Pro service pack 2 to run it and my laptop is at 2000 Pro.It has not been a problem, but PDS will not do certain things that IDS will do.When you order PDS/IDS you will get a VCM,NGS+Cradle,two DLC cables and a DVD with installation for both PDS/IDS along with calibrations from 96 to present,if you order DVD version of the tool then you will have hard copy back-up similiar to a tech2.That will leave you with a PPC and cable to buy to complete the package.Also to connect IDS you will need an additional cable as well that does not come in the kit but can be purchased from Rotunda.Are you also aware that you will have the factory OE tool for Mazda as well,96 to present and calibration files as well.It really sounds like a hassle but it really isn't that bad.Ĭlick to expand.Cool.
